BitNami Alfresco Stack is an easy to use installer for Alfresco, which is an Enterprise Content Management (ECM) system featuring Document Management, Web Content Management, Collaboration Management, Records Management and Image Management. It includes ready-to-runversions of Apache-Tomcat, MySQL and Java(tm) runtime. Alfresco Stack isdistributed for free under the Apache 2.0 license. Please see the appendixfor the specific licenses of all Open Source components included.FEATURES- Easy to InstallBitNami Stacks are built with one goal in mind: to make it as easy aspossible to install open source software. Our installers completely automatethe process of installing and configuring all of the software included ineach Stack, so you can have everything up and running in just a few clicks.- IndependentBitNami Stacks are completely self-contained, and therefore do not interferewith any software already installed on your system. For example, you canupgrade your system's MySQL or Apache Tomcat without fear of 'breaking' yourBitNami Stack.- IntegratedBy the time you click the 'finish' button on the installer, the whole stackwill be integrated, configured and ready to go. - RelocatableBitNami Stacks can be installed in any directory. This allows you to havemultiple instances.BitNami Alfresco Stack ships with the following software: - Alfresco 3Stable - Apache Tomcat 5.5.25 - MySQL 5.1.30 - OpenOffice 2.3.1 - ImageMagick 6.3.6 On Linux and Windows there are two versions of the stack, with and without a bundled JDK 1.5.0. On OS X, it is required that you have Java 1.5 or later installed in your system. Note:OS X installers are currently not shipped with OpenOfficeINSTALLATIONThe BitNami Alfresco Stack is distributed as a binary executable installer.The downloaded file will be named something similar to:bitnami-alfresco-3.0-0-linux-installer.bin on Linux orbitnami-alfresco-3.0-0-windows-installer.exe on Windows on OS X PowerPC on OS X x86.On Linux, you will need to give it executable permissions:chmod 755 bitnami-alfresco-3.0-0-linux.binOn OS X, you will need to extract the installer from the zip(this may have been done automatically by Safari).To begin the installation process, invoke from a shell or double-click onthe file you have downloaded, and you will be greeted by the 'Welcome'screen. You will be asked to choose the installation folder. If thedestination directory does not exist, it will be created as part of theinstallation. The default listening port for the bundled Apache Tomcat is 8080 and for thebundled MySQL is 3006. If those ports are already in use by otherapplications, you will be prompted for alternate ports to use.The next screen will ask you for a password. This password will be used toprotect the MySQL root account.If the installer has not been able to find a suitable JDK installation in your system, you will have to provide the location of a jdk1.5 or jdk1.6 installation in the next page.Once the installation process has been completed, you will see the'Installation Finished' page. You can choose to launch BitNamiAlfresco Stack at this point. If you do so, your default web browserwill point you to the BitNami local site.If you receive an error message during installation, please refer tothe Troubleshooting section.The rest of this guide assumes that you installed BitNami AlfrescoStack in /home/user/alfresco-3.0-0 on Linux or C:Program FilesBitNami Alfresco Stackon Windows or /Applications/alfresco-3.0-0 on OS X and that you use port 8080 for Apache Tomcat and 3306 for MySQL.STARTING AND STOPPING BITNAMI ALFRESCO STACKTo enter to your application you can point your browser tohttp:// start/stop/restart application on Linux or OS X you can use the utility: ./ (start|stop|restart) ./ (start|stop|restart) mysql ./ (start|stop|restart) tomcat ./ (start|stop|restart) openoffice start - start the service(s) stop - stop the service(s) restart - restart or start the service(s)You can start and stop BitNami Alfresco Stack on Windows using the shortcuts created in the Start Menu, under Programs -> BitNami -> BitNami ServiceDIRECTORY STRUCTUREThe installation process will create several subfolders under the maininstallation directory: apache-tomcat/: Apache Tomcat Web server. java/: Java SE Development Kit. mysql/: MySQL Database. apps/: Applications folder openoffice/: OpenOffice application. imagemagick/: Imagemagick files.Inside apps/alfresco there are additional folders and some files: lib/: Libraries for alfresco. docs/: Alfresco's documentation. licenses/: Licenses files. data/: Alfresco's data directory.DEFAULT USERNAMES AND PASSWORDSThe default user administrator of the Alfresco application is:login: admin password: adminMySQL admin user is called 'root', and its password is the one you set at installation time.The default non-root account used to access the database is namedbitnami, and its password is also bitnami.TROUBLESHOOTINGThis version of the BitNami Alfresco stack is a preview version, and as such, may contain a number of bugs and be a little bit rough around the edges. We are working on the next release, which will contain several improvements along with expanded documentation. We also encourage you to sign up for our newsletter, which we'll use to announce new releases and new stacks. To do so, just register at: - Installer + Installer Payload ErrorIf you get the following error while trying to run the installer from thecommand line:"Installer payload initialization failed. This is likely due to anincomplete or corrupt downloaded file" The installer binary is not complete, likely because the file wasnot downloaded correctly. You will need to download the file andrepeat the installation process. + Installer execution error on LinuxIf you get the following error while trying to run the installer:"Cannot open bitnami-alfresco-3.0-0-linux.bin: No application suitable for automatic installation is available for handling this kind of file."In some operatings systems you can change permissions with right click properties -> permissions -> execution enable.Or from the command line: $ chmod 755 bitnami-alfresco-3.0-0-linux.bin + Safari browser error on OS XSome versions of Safari have known issues with Alfresco. If your browser seems to hang while loading Alfresco's initial page, please upgrade your Safari version or use Firefox + Customize application on Linux or OS XIf you have enough RAM available and want to reduce delays, you can change by replacing this line: export JAVA_OPTS="-XX:MaxPermSize=512m -Xms256m -Xmx512m"withexport JAVA_OPTS="-XX:MaxPermSize=512m -Xms512m -Xmx1024m"- Apache TomcatIf you find any problem starting Apache Tomcat, the first place youshould look at is the error log file that will be created atalfresco-3.0-0/apache-tomcat/logs/catalina.out. There you willlikely find useful information to determine what the problem is.For issues not covered in this Quick Start guide, please refer to the BitNami forums and to the Apache Tomcat documentation, which is located at + ERROR [org.alfresco.smb.protocol.netbios] NetBIOSNameServer setup error: Permission deniedAlfresco tries to start a SMB/CIFS server, which uses ports 137, 138 and 139. All of these ports are in the privileged socket range so require the installer to be run from a privileged account. Alternitively you can also disable the SMB/CIFS server in the file-servers.xml file in the WEB-INFclassesalfresco folder. - MySQLIf you encounter any problems starting MySQL, the first place tolook in is the "Problems and Common Errors" section of the MySQLmanual, which you will find at Thefollowing are some common problems: + Access denied when trying to connect to MySQL. If you get an Access Denied message while trying to connect toMySQL, make sure you are using the correct username and password. + "Can't connect to server" message. Make sure that the MySQL daemon is up and running. Remember also that if during installation you selected a different listening port for MySQL, you may need to pass that as an extra command line option.
