TEMPROACT is an efficient, easy to use and proactive Personal Information Manager. It is also a supportive tool, a kind of coach helping you to improve your skills in the area of self-management. TEMPROACT is a software tool and also a method about organizing our activities. It is based on following assumptions : - We are living in a rapid changing world. - Rigid control / planning of our lives may lead to missing opportunities. - We need a flexible way of controlling our lives through goals. - According to new circumstances these goals may be modified. - Events are resources we can exploit to achieve our goals. - Our space-time is limited. It excludes simultaneity and ubiquity. We have to make choices. Accepting a deadline for an action is done at the expense of other deadlines. - We need a virtual space outside space-time where we can put ideas of actions without the obligation to execute them. - Keeping these virtual actions outside space-time reduces our sensation of overload with work. - Moving virtual actions into space-time is the decisive step in managing our lives. Once there they turn real and will not leave us until their executions. To-do lists are counterproductive because - Tasks are formulated without the perspective of projects and goals - all actions are considered to be real and thus already activate our inner resources on an unconscious level - they are displayed simultaneously. It is then difficult to focus on one task at the time. - We are best performing in the state of flow that mental state of operation in which we are fully immersed in what we are doing, characterized by a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and success in the process of the activity. All these assumptions lead to four main functions of TEMPROACT : - the virtual space which replaces the to-do list. Its purpose is to enter and sort ideas of actions before they turn real. - project management which replaces shortsighted task management. - automatic scheduling of ones projects to take into account the ever changing working conditions.
