    Instructions

Submitting your package to the WinSite Archive is now a 1-2-3 step process!

    1. Fill out the following web form using your forms-capable browser. Note that your browser MUST be able to support multipart/form-data file uploads. If you do not see a BROWSE button next to the Local filename of package to upload template field then your browser probably does not support this form of encoding. In this case, you should update to a newer browser version.
    2. Specify the local file you wish to upload. Note that this is the name of the file on your host, e.g. c:\mypkg\foo.zip.
    3. Submit your form by selecting Submit Your Package to WinSite! at the bottom of the template.

Some important notes about using this service:

    • The Program Archive Name field should contain a valid filename without a leading path. For example foo.zip is a valid package name. However, games/mygame.zip is not a valid package name. The filenames (Archive Name and Upload Name) need to be the same. File names can be mixed case and of any length except win3.x. Win3.x filenames must be the conventional 8.3 DOS filename, i.e. the total filename length can not exceed 12 characters total. Filenames can not have a space in them and must contain only alphanumeric characters in addition to the "_" and "-" characters which are also allowed. Currently the only file types we will accept are zip and exe.
    • The Local filename of package to upload field should contain the name of the package file as it is found on your local host. For example, c:\mypkg\foo.zip. Your browser will look for this file and transfer its contents using the multipart/form-data MIME encoding to the WinSite upload handler.
    • Once you press the Submit Your Package to WinSite! button your browser will begin transferring the file to WinSite and, depending on your particular browser type and version, you may or may not see a status bar representing the transfer's progress. Some browsers only indicate that data is being transferred using the activity icon conventionally found in the upper-right hand corner of its display. This will continue until the entire file has been sent to WinSite.

If the upload is successful, you will then receive a confirmation response containing information about the package you just uploaded to WinSite.

Due to constantly changing network conditions, it is possible for the file upload to encounter an error. If the WinSite upload handler is able to determine the nature of the error, a report will be returned with specific details. If the handler is not able to ascertain the precise nature of the error, it will indicate that an error has occurred and try its best to provide specifics regarding the error. In case an error does occur, please retry your upload. It is quite likely that the retry will succeed.

Thank you for uploading your package to WinSite!
