WinSite Help: What To Do With The Screensaver You Just Downloaded
Usually a screensaver download file at WinSite contains the screensaver
itself and a "Readme" file. Screensavers end with .scr. Once you open
the file, all you have to do is place the screensaver in a place where
your PC can find and use it. Normally, this means putting the .scr file
in c:\windows or c:\windows\system.
To use a new screensaver on your PC with Windows 3.1 go to "Control Panel"
and click on "Desktop". The screen saver section is the third box down.
Just click on the screensaver you wish to use. With Windows 95/98 go to
"Control Panel" and click on Display. Click on the ScreenSaver tab to
choose the screensaver you wish to use.
Occasionally, screensavers come with an uninstall program. This is the
best bet for removing a screensaver from your PC. If it doesn't, don't
worry. You can just go to c:\windows or c:\windows\system,
find the screensaver (the .scr file) you want to remove, and delete it.
